Tending Your Soil

By January 14, 2026No Comments

When a gardener is preparing a new bed for flowers or vegetables, there is a process to follow. There is little point in planting seeds in a soil full of weeds, one that has poor nutrition, or is compacted. Seeds or young plants need optimum conditions to thrive. Aren’t we the same?

This analogy illustrates the point we’ve reached in this new year. It’s the major significator of the first New Moon of 2026, New Moon at 28 Capricorn emerging on Sunday at 19.52. It’s time to tend your soil.

As many of you will be aware, during 2025 we’ve been traversing an energetic bridge of endings & beginnings. The energy has been slow & intense, a radical deconstruction of what we no longer need or what’s not working in our lives both personally & collectively. You may have been aware of the impulse of new life yet not had the energy or resources to fulfil the possibilities. This year, that changes.

2026 brings an utter change of focus; it’s a milestone year in a different way – the birth of a new era. Innovation replaces deconstruction; creativity thrives through soulful individuality; community expands; science & spirituality get closer; technology supports environmental wellbeing. Yet this won’t happen without us…. everyone who is awake. We are bringing it in through the way we are being. It’s an energetic process; it’s all about the frequency you’re living.

In many ways (& if I have to start somewhere), this evolutionary process has been ongoing since the 1960’s with the Free Love hippy movement, through the birth of the New Age movement in the 70’s, 80’s materialism & the end of the Cold War, the globalisation and technological revolution of the 90’s, the geopolitical instability of the 90’s after 9/11, global financial crisis, climate crisis & the pandemic followed through the 2010’s and 20’s. We’ve breathed though our labour pains, letting go, letting go, and as 2026 dawns, birth is close.

Mid-February heralds the first birth spasms, opening further in April/May, then from late June/July the pace of change will be rapid.

Many of us have ‘change fatigue’. And the Capricorn New Moon addresses this. Capricorn is the final earth sign. It is where we take mature responsibility for our own ’world’, and in doing so naturally uphold what is good & true for us all. So, this New Moon shines a spotlight on how you respond to your own needs & wellbeing, what you’re responsible for.

Tending your soil means nourishing the ground of your life so it’s ready for natural growth. The growth you are ready for and that will effortlessly arrive as this year unfolds. The growth that comes from what you’ve been letting go.

This doesn’t mean we sit back & wait – that aspect of deconstruction is done. We prepare by taking care of the simple things – food, fresh air, exercise, meditation, relaxation & rejuvenation, creativity, pleasure, acting on what nourishes, sustains & inspires. We allow ourselves to drop forceful purpose & drive; we relax, yet we also act. We act on what is most important. We keep life simple. We take care of ourselves & those close to us, our loved ones, our community. We create ripples of wellbeing that flow out.

This is not about staying comfortable. It’s about being the highest living frequency in your life, without agenda to change the world. There’s no doubt the world does need changing. Yet we are the world. It may seem most difficult to tend your own soil when there is so much chaos and need in our world. It may seem selfish. Yet to fill your own cup means you are available to give selflessly when it’s most needed. More pertinently, the frequency at which you are living is feeding the collective with true goodness. That frequency becomes accessible to others. It’s about Presence.

Without a fertile well-tended soil your presence will be lacking roots. It won’t sustain you fully; it can’t travel to nourish others. Just as feeding a forest occurs naturally through fungi & mycelium, tree roots and other natural organisms, our interconnectivity of Presence can light up the Earth. Presence has a truly natural power, an innate transmission of frequency.

Where do you need to nourish your roots at this Capricorn New Moon? Where could you tend the soil of your life? It’s about so much more..
